The Montjuïc project seeks to bring together local scholars, activists, and the Jewish communities of Barcelona, along with other stakeholders, to consolidate past and present efforts with the goal of advancing the commemoration of this ancient site—today abandoned and fenced off—and reintegrating it into the city’s contemporary cultural and historical landscape.

Our main goals:

  •  Develop strategies and Plans: Develop plans for the intervention, care, and commemoration of the cemetery, ensuring respect for the rules of Jewish Halacha and Barcelona Historical heritage.

  • Lead a Public-Political Campaign: Promote civic and public engagement within the city of Barcelona, for the  commemoration of the ancient Jewish cemetery and re activation of the cemetery space, as a meaningful heritage landmark in the city landscape.

  • Iniciate and encourage Historical and Cultural Research: Facilitate and promote historical research of the cemetery', and develop means to present findings to the public.
